I retired from Missouri Western State University August 1, 2018. In many ways, the last two years have been both "the longest and shortest" of my life. Much of this time has been spent relative to family needs. As a result, I have spent much too little time maintaining and updating my work with various study webs. I hope to get back to this over this year.
I began teaching at Missouri Western in 1987. During the next years, I served in several roles. Beginning in the Department of English and Modern Languages, I taught a varied selection of composition and literature courses. I left the department to serve as Faculty Fellow with the Coordinating Board for Higher Education. Returning to Western, I accepted an interim position as Chair for the Business Department. After a brief return to the Department of English and Modern Languages, I accepted the role of Special Assistant to the President (2000-2009), managing strategic planning, institutional accreditation, and serving as the liaison to the Department of Higher Education. I returned to the Department of English and Modern Languages and my love of teaching in the years immediately preceding my retirement.
Reading the Bible as Literature: An Introduction has been published by Polity Press. http://www.polity.co.uk/book.asp?ref=9780745635088 . I have taught several courses using this textbook--generally with successful outcomes--in both traditional and online teaching environments.

In retirement, I have continued working with a number of biblical studies evolving over several years of teaching. Always more than literature, the Bible remains significant to the study of any literature that can be said to be complete. In the next years, I hope to update existing studies and to add more.
